As Raízes do Zeppelin

Os cds encartados na revista Mojo são sempre muito legais. Esta semana não paro de ouvir The Roots of Led Zeppelin, coletânea que acompanhou a edição de Agosto de 2004. Conforme as palavras de Phil Alexander, então editor-chefe da revista, a química do grupo era resultado de uma vasta gama de influências trazidas por quatro personalidades musicais distintas. Foi um pouco disso que a Mojo quis mostrar confeccionando essa coletânea, que visita sobretudo o blues e o folk, mas contempla também o rock n' roll clássico, a soul music e o surf rock instrumental. Summertime, de George Gershwin, pode se aproximar do clima de Dazed and Confused? Com Santo & Johnny sim. Não poderia faltar Killing Floor, com Howlin' Wolf, que o Zep rearranjou como Lemon Song e Hendrix também gravou. Por falar em Howlin' Wolf, sempre achei que o estilo de Robert Plant deve muito à voz rasgada do bluesman. Entre outros blues obrigatórios, a voz de Joan Baez representa bem o folk, e Garnet Mimms faz as honras da soul music. Como a edição é de 2004 e o cd não é vendido comercialmente, é difícil vocês encontrarem. No entanto, o encarte descreve de onde foi tirada cada faixa.
